Spalted Maple Vase
Highly figured spalted maple hollowform vase. Approximately 6”x 6.25”, finished with tung oil and lacquer, then rubbed to a satin sheen.
The wood from which I made this vase came from an old sugar maple, over 38” in diameter at the base, that had seen better days. Pileated woodpeckers were carving up the trunk so it was time to take this old tree down and make a beautiful piece in tribute.
